sorry for coming off that strong. the users at mandrakeusers.org has a lot to gripe with mdksoft but we do respect their decisions. like what you said, mdksoft will be in great trouble if they change the distribution license. they have not. all they are asking is that they be allowed to reward their paying contributors even using this questionable method.
my point really is that open-source grants freedom but not to the extent that you are already doing something that is against what has been set by the maker. i think this all boils down to one word: respect. :)
