Don't hold your breath. It's probably 6 months to a year away. But once BinaryPHP is completed (http://sourceforge.net/projects/binaryphp), we will probably switch all of our web development from C++ to PHP. Here is the info: 12.08.2003 PHP Compiling Tools The latest PHP Weekly Summary from Zend lists the progress on the BinaryPHP and PASM (the Php AsseMbler) PHP compiler projects. BinaryPHP is a PHP To C++ converter that will convert PHP scripts into C++ equivalents ready to be compiled using any ANSI compiler. Simply put, it allows you to make your scripts into a nice little software app that can be compiled and distributed to whomever you choose. Right now, there's a ‘Proof of Concept’ posted, along with some CVS snapshots and news feeds to keep on top of the project's status. Also, John Coggeshall has been working on a Zend module tentatively called PASM, the Php AsseMbler. His web site contains some preliminary information about the project, and a download is expected to be available sometime soon.
