Quoting Bong Munoz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Can you imagine writing write-once code with no thought to reusability? Heaven!
But there is no such thing. Every little piece of code that you write today you can cut portions of and reuse in another application tomorrow. Code that is not worth reusing is not worth writing in the first place.
I'm ashamed to admit that I don't live up to your higher standards, Doc. I've seen and written quite a lot of reuseless code. Sometimes a higher calling like continued employment makes writing use-once code worth writing.
Cut-and-paste reuse is better than nothing, I suppose, but that doesn't feel very elegant. I do reuse a lot of design ideas, though, if not the exact implementation. I find writing reusable code enjoyable if difficult. Interface design, to paraphrase Stroustrup, is a combination of experience, intelligence, and taste.
Cheers!
