some 20 in the lab.  that's with a p3 500mhz with 256*3 mb ram.  we just
force icewm because kde / gnome makes the server thrash.

the workstations are p100 16mb

when people gimp, some gimp-busy workstations block.  i don't know why,
maybe the nfs swap, or linux is juggling X stuff (fonts etc) in
workstation ram.

also animations, java games are heavy.
