Good day to all,

We recently put up a Linux Lab consisting of 50 workstations (Mandrake 9.2). After a few days upon installation every time we open the lab our bandwidth consumption tends to rise up. According to our ISP, the router where all the Linux workstations pass through sends a huge amount of data outside.

Questions:

  1. Is this possible even though all workstations pass through a secured router?
  2. Do we need to make the built-in firewall set to HIGH or Paranoid?
  3. What could probably the reasons for this problem?
  4. Any suggestions on the installation? (Do’s and Dont’s)

Please Advice.

Thank you.
