I use Mozilla 1.7 on Linux to do my web browsing, including
connections to secure sites.

1. Initially, I had problems connecting to
https://www.bpiexpressonline.com/direct_signin.htm.
So I asked BPI for help, and they said that I sould use
the link to ../direct_signinNIE.htm instead. I failed
when I tried that new link. I discovered that the real
culprit is my browser setting. The Ateneo computers
are all behind firewalls, whether directly connected
to the Net or by dial-up. I found out that the correct
setting is to use the Ateneo proxies for all connections
to the net: http, ftp, ssl, etc. With everything
passing through the proxy, I can now connect to BPI.

2. The same setting works for https://gmail.google.com,
so I can now access my gmail account.

3. I still have problems with Smart Online:
https://secure.smart.com.ph/SMART/My+Wireless+Center/.
I type my login ID (modile phone number) and
password, and then click on LOGIN, and nothing happens.
I click on LOGIN again, and nothing happens. I wait
and wait and nothing happens. So I reboot to Windows 2000
and repeat the login procedure, and I get the beautiful
personalized welcoming screen. Then I click on
"Online Billing Statement", and I get an error screen
stating "Access Denied". Why does Smart not want me to
get my billing statement? So I write email to
[EMAIL PROTECTED], and ask for help, then I
wait and wait, and nothing happens. I do not even get
the courtesy of a reply. This is sad, very very sssaaaadddd.
