That hasn't happened with me, but then I'm using Knoppix 3.4. What's the
output of 'dmesg' when you plug in the USB enclosure while Knoppix is
running? Does Knoppix detect your USB controller? Is the usb-storage
module loaded? Lots of basic stuff you can try out to see where the
problem lies.
will do but the usb modules are already loaded. when i get some breather at work. actually im helping out an officemate whose winxp just died out leaving some important files inside the harddisk. might even go the 3.4 route since its reported that the lancard works with the kernel in 3.4.
will post my findings here (if any).
