[plug] knoppix and usb enclosure ( was Re: USB 2.0 Enclosure )

Let me hijack this thread for a little bit... 

assuming that i already have a knoppix system up and running and plugged my 
usb hdd (matrix 3.5" enclosure), how do i make knoppix re-read its usb 
configuration? knoppix doesnt seem to see it, and knoppix refuses to boot if 
its plugged in. im using knoppix 3.3.
