Perhaps it was BSD UNIX on a VAX 11/780?  I believe PAEC already had
one at that time (so said some of my elders..) and I know PNOC had an
11/780 with this huge array processor dedicated for FFT's and based on
AMD 2911 (?) bitslice CPUs.
