Oops. It's Time, Treasure, and Talent. Something we use here very much in the Parish very often... ;-) > So when would you be back? ;) Hopefully by next month, or if not, before May. It really depends on the results of my UgAT exam, I'm now praying for my passing this... > Maybe we could all start of planning an event that would make sure > that we could advocate not only Linux but FOSS =) Indeed, that would be a great idea. Operating system-wise, there are a great lot of BSD and GNU Hurd hackers out there (well, maybe not locally, but still...) and application-wise, there's a motley crew of hackers supporting and advocating their approaches to solving problems (like Emacs and vi folks.) In fact, it would probably be a better approach if this event can give potential users a glimpse of FOSS in action on a wide range of applications and environments. In the past, I noticed that many of these conferences/events focus on a single area (or a group of application areas related by a single set of applications,) which actually works quite nice, but it does rather leave other areas the cold shoulder because of lack of interest. Of course, that's only speculation, considering I've attended only one (the PhilOSC,) and as much as I would like to attend OSC 2005 at Cebu (and LinuxWorld at Boston before that,) I don't have enough treasure to spend on, barring time and talent as I'm giving my all for the local community. But I intend to change that, in the very near future... -- ZAK B.
