Yes this is probably the biggest issue I have with Gimpshop. Which shows that the Open source community is not very Graphic Arts oriented. (And Windows just barely I might add) which explains the continued popularity of the Mac platform for GA work.
Which opens up a question: Is there any development towards system-wide color management on unix based open-source platforms? More specifically the question should be "Is there an ICC based CMM available under KDE or Gnome or any other GUI platform?" Mac and Windows implemented this in the early 90's at the time the ICC was formed.
