LOL!
We are both past 3 score & 10 ;/
I suspect we speak "different " languages.
He had called me last night mentioning a problem.
I gave him some off the top of my head search terms.
After a full night's sleep I came up with a better set of search terms.
I searched.
Came up with useful and irrelevant links.
I emailed him the relevant links with a telephone call to give him a
head's up that he had "useful" email.
~12 hours later I called to see if had received same. He had not turned
on his computer yet today. We spoke for significant time. Not convinced
we *communicated*. I suspect the onus of competent tech communication is
in my lap.
What to do now?
I spent decades in 'customer service'. I should have better idea.
*HELP* LOL!!!

Something that has served me well is to stop assuming I know what the problem
is/might-be, and start asking questions. Ask simple questions. Get the other
person to teach you about whats going on, how, when, any ideas they have on why
(they use the system on a regular basis, they are more apt to know what is
normal and what isn’t). Perhaps this will help you gather enough information
that you can then start forming questions for google, or even other people.

I abandoned WindowsXP a long time ago.
My brother, without a single geek chromosome, uses Windows 10.
His computer is emitting beeps at times other than POST.
I sent him what I thought would be useful links [including generic links for a
Windows user to determine what BIOS their computer had].
In a follow-up phone call I discovered he was using Windows10.
I also discovered that we speak different "languages".
I suspect my underlying question is "How can a reasonably competent Linux user
communicate with a mass market Windows user?"
Please:
1. tell me "Where to go" ;/ <*LOL*>
2. what research should I be doing?
*IOW* How can I do for my brother what many have done for me *??????*
TIA
