>Also a filter over the fan. What the HELL was HP thinking? Saving money. But were the 2500 and 2650 really designed and manufactured by HP? For many years all HP laser printers were made by Canon. And sometimes Canon sold the printer sans exterior shell to other vendors who then put their own housing cum labels on them. Lately HP has been buying their lasers elsewhere but, to the best of my knowledge, HP has never actually manufactured any of their printers. Having said that, a couple years ago HP bought Samsung's printer division, so maybe they do nowadays. >Realistically, I must abandon all my HP2605s and buy a new >printer. Duplexing and Postscript 3 and ethernet required, >big cheap toner cartridges with third-party knockoffs also. >I hope to find something 10-year durable; it may take that >long to recover from a trade war with China. Sadly, most >new printers are designed for a three year mechanical life. Laser printers are designed and marketed to the big buyers, which means corporate offices. Look at tax laws re depreciation write-offs for equipment. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
