Perhaps you can encourage them to use duckduckgo rather than google,
and set
duckduckgo's search engine to itself.
The problem is what search engine they use, but their desire to use
Google Calendar. Access would be through a dedicated Google Mail
account. So the only issue is Google tracking their IP addresses and
aggregating that with other things Google has about those IP addresses.
My guess is that many, if not most of them won't care. I'm hoping to
convince some of them to at least think about it.
