Heck...I had completely forgotten to mention online alternatives to Google calendar. Also, you can run you own open source calendar database on your web server via the calDAV extension to webDAV. Here's a summary: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CalDAV Most Linux etc distros should have options in their repositories, and most DEs (KDE...) have a calendar program that can talk to a calDAV server,, as well as clients for android cell phones etc. Running your own calendar would server solve your security questions at the expense or more work for you!
