You folks have greater knowledge of details than do I, but I use ghostery (and have for several years) and it seems to do a good job of blocking tracking. On my Andriod phone I've let Google keep the basic applications updated but the only functions I use are voice calls and text messages. I've looked at the mapping application here in the office, but that's it. Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." That quote often comes up in the context of new technology and concerns about government surveillance. Franklin was probably thinking about a different context but it's certainly applicable in today's world.
