I installed Cantata, a music player that can stream internet radio
stations (real stations that have announcers, news, etc.). I
installed it from the Ubuntu repositories. I can't run it because it
starts by presenting a popup asking for network information. There are
three boxes to fill in: Host (with 'localhost' as the default,
Password, and a box that contains the default '6600.' There is also a
Connect button, and I can't proceed to the Next button until the
connection is established.

As I attempt to get it to connect Banshee music player is streaming
Radio Classique (Paris) and Chromium browser is working fine - in other
words, the computer is certainly connected to the internet. I've never
had an app that couldn't connect, everything else 'just works.'

The default settings give me an error message 'failed to send command
to "Default" (localhost 6600) - not connected. I tried entering the IP
address of the computer in the Host box, also the IP address of the
router, and the MAC address of the router. Nothing works. All that
happens is that the error message changes to reflect what I entered in
the boxes.

Before I give up on Cantata I thought I'd ask for suggestions for other
things to enter in the three boxes.
