John, I recall you writing that you found the same error messages on a web forum or two and that's how you focused on VLC. If that's correct, have you perhaps pursued a solution on that same forum? Did you find any useful information on the Silicon Dust's troubleshooting page <https://www.silicondust.com/support/troubleshooting/>? On videolan.org's support page they have a section called Help & Support. I assume you've gone though that with a fine-tooth comb. Did you find any ideas there? I'm probably pointing out the obvious but I can appreciate your frustration so I looked for potential solution sources.
