Yes, when the output is to the analog speakers or headset. No, when the output is to a digital (USB) headset.
If you do not see this - then it is mystery how could you actually hear it in the speakers/headphones. Nevertheless you can still use the headset that works to hear it.
Well, I can if it's an analog output but not a digital output. You're correct that I can use the Yamaha headset, but the digital ones are supposed to work otherwise no one would make or buy them. Since I have digital, on-ear headsets I'd like to have the option of using them.
If you do see this - it is expected - then just follow the instructions and select your other headset as an audio output in the same pavucontrol tab.
When the digital headset is connected to the host there is no vu meter bar in pavucontrol; therefore, it's not seeing digital output. This holds for audio from a web site or a local .mp3 file.
