The difference is the hundreds of missing packages. A full install of 9.3 is roughly 8 - 9 gigs. You just can't get everything on cds these days. From what I have noticed they usually don't put all of the mail stuff in the cds. If you want to do any server stuff it is usually better to use the dvd. I have the iso on my computer and then I usually do nfs installs. I'm willing to make that available. If you have a hard drive that is big enough what I normal do is after the install is put the iso on the computer, mount it and then make it the default install source. That way you never need to put the cds or dvd in again. It just eats up 9 gigs of hard drive.
