Now that the smtp port is open, I am still having problems with authentication. Using Thunderbird, I am unable to login to my account. Is there something special I have to do with Postfix to allow me to login and get my email? With sendmail, it just uses the Linux user accounts.
Postifx is just the MTA (Mail Transfer Agent), it deals with sending and delivering mail to other servers, but it does not handle pickup of mail.
I assume you are trying to access your email remotely from another machine? What service are you using to get mail? POP3? IMAP? Something Else?
