If it's made in China, it won't work as that's a Marvell chipset and not the Prism. I had the same problem with the later "version 2" cards (I think I had a rev. C)

If you can run "modprobe prism54" and do "ifconfig -a" and see the interface then you're in business. If so then you just need to add (at a minimum) "iface wlan0 inet dhcp" to your interfaces file and run ifup wlan0. If you need SSID and/or WAP setup then that's more involved. I'd recommend installing ifplugd and linux-wlan-ng as it works wonderfully with a prism card. Prismstumbler is also fun. :)

I have just instaled kernel 2.6.8 and made sure to load the Prism
module so that I could use the wireless card that bought today. It is a
Netgear WG311 Version 2. According to the site, that should work. I
don't know how to check it, to see if it is correctly installed. I also
don't know how to set up the /etc/network/interfaces file. I would
appreciate it if someone would point me in the right direction.

Any links on what to do?
