Microsoft and Adobe aren't not programs, so they are neither
open-source nor closed-source.  Microsoft has a number of source code
licenses, including at least one that meets Open Source and Free
Software definitions.  The Microsoft Dynamic Language Runtime, which
is part of Silverlight, falls under this license.  You can read the
code online; it's pretty interesting.

Microsoft isn't planning on writing a Silverlight plugin for Linux at
present, but Novell is, and Novell is definitely likely to support
Linux.
