OK, it could be a physical networking problem: broken cable, etc..
Unless someone left the link light off the computer.

OK, they're there.

At this point, I'd guess you have a problem at the physical layer. I'd
try a different cable. But that would not explain the lack of wireless.

Try this: with the Ethernet unplugged, left click on the NM icon in the
right end of the upper panel. If it shows one or more networks
available, then at least the interface is working. If there is at least
one network, but not the one you are trying to connect to, that's your
problem.

But I'm grasping at straws here. Someone needs to see the thing.
