Hi Michael - well, I guess my parents will be getting a SlimCD based on
a Frugal install instead! :) I assumed "Frugal" meant cut down and
didn't really investigate it! I'm still not sure why it's called
Frugal!

This guide ('PDF format' (http://tinyurl.com/7jx63)) got me up and
running in no time... a bit of tweaking later and the floppy and pen
drive are surplus to requirements! :) My original configuration worked
without needing any changes too!

Very impressive stuff!

PS. For anyone thinking of using SlimCD, I recommend enabling DMA when
booting DSL as SlimCD has DMA disabled by default (I guess for
increased hardware compatability) but this cripples IDE bandwidth - for
me, enabling DMA increased bandwith threefold from 3MB/s to just over
11Mb/s (and probably takes some load of the CPU too).

PPS. I would also recommend setting vga=normal as while the other modes
are more aesthetically appealing on my setup when using vga=791 (or 788)
the video is corrupted after exiting from X (ie. when rebooting so not
possible to see shutdown messages - only a minor issue though).
