Yes I am listening to LW and that is the URL but the BBC use a system of load balancing which they effectively do by playing with the DNS servers so the IP address returned for that URL will not always be the same. It will change depending upon your location and the load on the servers within the farm. If you capture the IP address of the streaming server and do a reverse lookup you will discover something like rm38.bbc.thdo.co.uk which is a machine in the London Docklands farm. If you were in the States you would be likely to find a machine in New York or Washington so that the stream doesn't have to be dragged across the Internet unless they have changed the system in the last couple of years (They have a private pipe between the US and London sites). I do know they have been having a few DNS problems in the past week or two so this might account for some problems.
I haven't tried the stream for any length of time, Chris just mentioned that he couldn't get any sound from it while I have managed to get a reasonably quick connection every time I have tried and yes it was a cricket commentary. -- MrStan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrStan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23807 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
