Hi Michael Thanks for continuing to work on this... as requested, here is some feedback. Using slimserver 6.2.2 on WinXP, with an HP iPaq WM2003SE.
- first experience was very bad - as soon as I started up slimremote, slimserver crashed, only way to recover was to reboot my system! Now, I've been round a few times since then and not been able to reproduce this, so it may just have been some random coincidental glitch, but I guess we need to watch out for others suffering the same problem. - I can see several improvements, thank you. Better tab images, the playlist page seems to work without falling over, the status page comes up without unnecessary horizontal scroll bars. - there is still an issue with the number of artists in "browse artists" (I guess this is a CLI issue rather than yours)... I'm getting the full list, not the short list that Various Artists behaviour gives me on web interface and remote. - there is an issue with handling very long track and album names which I guess had always been there but which I don't think has been commented on. I use very long names for classical pieces (for example right now I am listening to "Beethoven Piano Sonata 23 in F Minor, 'Appassionata', Op 57 - 1 - Allegro assai" from "Beethoven Piano Sonata 23 in F Minor, 'Appassionata', Op 57 - Ashkenazy"). So, first off, I'd like horizontal scroll bars available on the playlist and browse windows so I can scroll to see the full track titles or album names. Second, I'm losing a lot on the status window, The track title appears on two lines, both of which are truncated, so I'm missing a bit in the middle and a bit off the end. The album name only has the first line visible - the second name is covered up by the progress bar. [Add: just moved on the next track which is even longer: now the track title is on three lines, the first two of which are truncated, and I can't see the album name at all] This is WITHOUT selecting large fonts on the settings window - if I do that it gets worse... Might a fix (allowing for the many different window sizes people will be using) be to allow users to adjust the amount of status screen used for album art vs titles?
