Thank you Inguz, good work there. If it works, it is surely better than buying a TACT. I have some different problems though - have you (or anyone) got a clue?
SoftSqueeze When I use the setup with SoftSqueeze (2.8) I get something like pink noise and can only very faintly hear the original sound in the background. I had to dig out my retired Squeezebox 3 and then I got the sound (but not sounding very nice - see below). Could there be a setting somewhere within SoftSqueeze, do I need to get a later SoftSqueeze, SqueezeSlave or whatever - or will it simply not work with anything but a hardware Squeezebox? "Tunnel-sound" After installing the plugin with the newly created filters the sound could best be described as "closed in" or "coming out of a tunnel". A bit boomy bass, lost a lot of the high frequencies etc. I tried different filters; Normal, Soft, NoCorrection etc with no major difference to the tunnel-sound. Only "None" took it back to normal sound. The measurement was done with a Behringer ECM8000 and it went reasonably smooth, no obvious problems. I had to turn down the preamp line level a bit to prevent clipping, so the "live" channel would no longer be on -6dB while I left the reference channel at -6dB (instructions didn't mention whether to change that as well or not). I noticed that the recorded wavefile looked very modulated and far from flat like the reference - I have no clue if this is normal. I tried saving recorded wave-files with and without the "clicks" at start and end (again: instruction not clear on this point). I tried bk-3-spline.txt as well as flat.txt for the target response, but no difference to the tunnel-sound. I do have a subwoofer (an old REL, of the type connected to the power amp output) so maybe I should have chosen something else here? I tried looking in the DRC manual.....and gave up. What could I have missed? Equipment I normally don't use a Squeezebox. I have a professional sound card and I use SoftSqueeze for playing. The reason for this is to get master clock control and balanced outputs, none of which SB3 can handle (yes I know the new Transporter can do this, but I don't need the DAC there so it seems silly to pay for that). The souncard feeds an upsampler (dCS Purcell) which in turn feeds an external DAC (dCS Delius). I had to plug in my SqueezeBox to get past the "pink noise" problem and then I took the digital out from that and fed into the upsampler so I did not use the analog out from SB3 at all. -- CarlOtto ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CarlOtto's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3581 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=26005 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
