This problem showed up on systems where users had modified/tweaked the TCP setting. I wanted to know if you had modified the settings to confirm my suspicions.
Since you have not modified the TCP setting, it may be a different problem with the same symptoms. Does it happen with the "live" BBC streams ? You could try the solution and see if it fixes the problem. Edit the file slimserver-convert.conf with Wordpad and remove the text "-bandwidth 1000000", it occurs on 3 lines in the RTSP section of the file.
