This sounds like a problem at the LastFM end. They would probably suggest taking out a subscription as that (supposedly) gets you preferential treatment on the streaming servers athough I rarely have trouble connecting as a non-subscriber. I would suspect time of day is a factor in this as well. It does seem like they usually cut you off after 2 hours...
