OK, thanks - understand now why this won't work for transcoding. Maybe I'm just being naive, but would this also preclude adding native RTSP / RA support to the Squeezebox firmware? A much bigger job I guess, but ultimately a much more elegant solution for access to the various BBC / NPR RA streams. There are a few "kitchen radio" boxes in the UK (eg Acoustic Energy) which claim to support Real Audio natively, so have they signed costly licensing terms or what?
