Hello,
I have several media players (Sonos, PI3 - Moode Player, Android Settop
boxes - BubbleUPnP). They all communicate with LMS 7.9 using latest UPnP
bridge plugin. Each player has some unique features which allow some
formats to work, some not so much. One thing I have noticed is that if
the audio files are converted to PCM format, things like gapless
playback, replay gain, etc.. function properly. Because my network is
quite robust and the LMS server is pretty powerful, I have setup LMS to
stream to the players only in PCM format and the server transcodes all
files to this format PCM at 44.1kHz, 16 bit regardless of format MP3,
FLAC, ALAC, etc.. .
I have managed to use make this work with all formats except FLAC high
sampling rate files like 88.2 and 96 kHz files at 24 or 32 bit. Many of
my players do not support the high res FLAC format (Sonos in
particular)
I realize I can transcode the highres files to flac 44.1/24 format
offline and save them but I was hoping to setup a custom-convert.conf
file to do this automatically on demand.
On the command line: sox -V6 thriller.flac -t wav -r 44.1k -b 16
thriller_16_441.wav works fine and the file is resampled properly.
Using custom-convert.conf like:
flc pcm * *
# FT:{START=--skip=%t}U:{END=--until=%v}D:{RESAMPLE=-r %d}
[sox] $FILE$ -t raw -r 44.1k -b 16 -c 2
works well with flac upto 44.1/16 resulting in a PCM 1411 kbps file but
when I get to 88.1 or 96kHz the command returns a PCM stream of 4233
kbps and it of course sounds like the chipmunks. I would ultimately
like to transcode it properly to 44.1k / 16 bit.
I have read over the thread and reviewed logs, and tried to understand
how the plugin fits in with the UPnP plugin but seem to be at a loss. I
have tried other methods to convert using FLAC, SOX and Lame but to no
avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Ynot.
