I don't think so, the scanner scans the files in the directories you
specified in LMS. the LMS MusicIp importation during the scan only
imports what MusicIp has in its database that is new (to LMS), not what
has not been analysed. It means the first time it will import the whole
MusicIP db and the next time only the new tracks. Then, the first
importation can be long, but don't think that could use so much more
memory than the second one. Remember that MusicIp is an old software, at
this time PCs had 256k or 512k of memory to run windows and everything,
and it was good enough. Even with the qemu layer, this can't be.

And I don't believe this story about the required swap size. I have
"only" 19k tracks, with 16k mixable and I completely removed the swap
because I noticed that I have enough memory for LMS and MusicIp run
comfortably. A swap space on a 'SD card is not very efficient'
(http://raspberrypimaker.com/adding-swap-to-the-raspberrypi/), it slows
the system and is not usually necessary.
free memory :

Code:
--------------------
    $ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
  Mem: 923 838 84 23 55 386
  -/+ buffers/cache: 395 527
  Swap: 0 0 0
--------------------

See ? no swap, only 395M memory used

I did a full new scan from scratch "erase library and rescan" (don't
know the name in english), here is the output (sorry, it's in french) :
It ended normally . you can see :
23600
17035 tracks
16881 tracks imported from MusicIp

I used htop during the scan to follow the used memory , it appears on
bar charts. The green part is the used memory. Here is a screen copy
during MusicIp importation.
23599
It's slow, but it doesn't use so much memory.
free memory after scan :

Code:
--------------------
    $ free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
  Mem: 923 670 252 23 18 349
  -/+ buffers/cache: 302 621
  Swap: 0 0 0
--------------------

So maybe you have a problem with memory used, but it's not only MusicIp
the problem, and that wouldn't explain why MusicIp takes 2 minutes to
start.
