Does uninstalling and reinstalling help? Did you maybe buy it with a different account for which the iPad might have forgotten the password (credentials expire after a few months)? In that case it helpt to log out of the App Store and re-login with the correct account. I've seen this a lot with various apps over the years and it always takes a while of trying to get it fixed but in the end it always works.
