By default I think if speed option is not provided it will default to
max, "illegal" values are ignored and default is used.

On my system ( USB2.0 external CD/DVD writer max 24x for CD) an icedax
rip of a 2m10sec track at different speed took as follows:
1x 33s
4x 35s
8x 38s
16x 25s
24x 16s
48x 16s

In all cases (even 1x) the 2m10s track could be ripped in less than
2m10s - this a requirement of a drive to work with CDplayer plugin (i.e.
data can be extracted faster than it take to play).

On your system, standalone rip test took about 1min for 45795836 bytes -
which I think is the same speed as my system.

On your system for whatever reason when icedax is run when LMS is
running - it looks like there is a problem somewhere (e.g. not enough
cores, prcoessor too slow, USB bus clogged) and data cannot be
extracted from CDrive quick enough.

Running "top "while trying to play a CD track through LMS may indicate
if CPU and/or memory loading is the problem. If it is CPU and/or memory
overload then using ODROID may help.
