Got a little side-tracked. I decided/realized I needed to modernize the SLX user interface. Windows API programming does not make it easy to make things look different so it took few false trails before I came to this new look.
I've been using the Material Skin exclusively for the last few days. So this is where I stand with making it work in SLX. SLX will have a new more appropriate color theme. And the control layout will be dynamic, adjusting as necessary to smaller, landscape and/or portrait window shapes. I've eliminated old fashioned Win32 controls and replaced with modern looking controls. For example, here is the settings tab in a smaller window size, and the corresponding look of the Material Skin. 25967 25968 25969 Also gone will be the "Advanced Squeezelite" page which only showed you what the squeezelite command line parameters are. All that real estate was not too useful and pretty ugly. I've moved the mandatory "credits" tab under "About". Two other unneeded controls in Settings will be removed - the power switch, and the "Close Output Device on Idle" check box. And perhaps I can reclaim the left-side navigation menu space by using a different approach for that. All this is better use of real estate, and a simpler cleaner interface. Still to do, I have to create an interface for switching between the Material Skin and the Default Skin on the fly. And then I need to integrate with the skin's local storage in order to have the tray menu commands that need to apply to the currently selected player work. So stay tuned. (I figure we're a week or two away.) Long Live Logitech SqueezeBox!!!
