Many thanks for looking into this. The other way that I wondered was worth considering was to pass the PID from the AOD feed in the iPlayer URL. That can then be used to verify the availability of the VPID provided by the AOD in the playlist.json before playing and select the alternative VPID available if it isn't. That has a couple of advantages. 1. It only calls the playlist.json when trying to play. 2. It is still plays in the format and quality level chosen.
