Well, first of all I had mixed up the prefs file and the xml file: no
xml file was actually generated...

philippe_44's remark got me thinking: I run the docker in bridged
mode...
On my test machine I now had to do the following:

- Ran the docker in 'host' mode and tried to install the plugin. That
failed because the plugin could not be downloaded. I tested if I could
download the plugin manually from the host and that succeeded...
- Switched the docker to 'bridge' mode and could download and install
the plugin with LMS, but could not generate a config file as was the
case on my real system.
- Switched back to 'host' mode and generated a config file with 4 upnp
devices detected. The xml file is located in /config/prefs.

I don't understand why I could not download the plugin in 'host' mode
but in the end it apparently it works...
Tomorrow I will try this on my real system.

Thank you!
