Something about your system must be configured to speak German. If the mix of languages is only in Material, then there must be something about Material which doesn't handle those settings properly.
I just submitted a PR to Craig which _might_ be related to this. But I'm not sure, tbh, as it's only dealing with the main menus. But in that case Material wasn't respecting the client's language setting. Or he did so deliberately, using the wrong function, I'm not sure.
