But they're not losing money due to subscribers discovering
"unauthorized" and hard to access alternatives to Stern.  The
exclusivitiy of the Stern show on satellite radio makes it hard to
capture new listeners – the show NEEDS to bleed out into the
mainstream.  The affiliation Sirius has with Crystal.net allows them to
do this discretely  – it’s a very cost effective marketing strategy. 
Sirius wins. They just downplay the whole thing (there's a balance) so
as not to lose subscribers, which isn’t a big fear anyway since
Shoutcast can’t be received in cars, where most of it’s listeners are
(or at least not more easily than receiving Sirius directly).
