What I meant was, one could modify MusicInfo to understand more complex format strings like my "2:PLAYING (X_OF_Y);3:ARTIST;3:ALBUM;2:RATING" example *without* changing the web UI at all, and simply customize by stopping SS, editing the pref, and restarting SS. But it would be better to add some sort of web UI for reconfiguring on a running SS instance. I do tend to prefer CLIs, but for infrequent tasks like configuring MusicInfo and IR Blaster, a more GUI approach is nice -- if someone's willing to code it. :-) Michael Herger;195305 Wrote: > > BTW: SlimServer 7.0 will store plugin specific preferences in their own > > files. I thought SS cached settings in memory and only *reads* pref files at startup, etc. Michael Herger;195305 Wrote: > > As I mentioned earlier in this thread > I'd rather have a general layout editor where you can set up and save > as > many configurations as you like. Personally, I hope Triode follows the suggestion from Erland to use separate directories for each player (in addition to separate YAML per plugin), so I can more easily copy MusicInfo settings to different players. I don't know if I'm typical, but I have multiple players and since I'm the primary user, I want them configured the same. If you're suggesting something like the desktop/OS "custom settings" approach, I'd suggest inluding the delays as part of the defined layout so I could tweak the settings for Player 1, save them as "Peter's layout", and then quickly use the web UI to select "Peter's layout" for the other players and have every aspect of MusicInfo configuration filled in.
