Bhaagensen >>> Many thanks for your help, and for going to the trouble
of writing the script. I can get the headless MIP service running, and
linked to SS, by starting MIP headless in a Terminal, and then (in
another Terminal) restarting SS.
Unfortunately, the script you suggested generated a number of errors
which I had trouble understanding (they seemed to say that the version
of SS had been changed to 6.3.1 ??); and, when I opened the SS web
interface the Fishbone Tan skin I use was scrambled, with parts of it
black, and the text misaligned - is if there had been a partial attempt
to use the default skin.
Then I was not able to terminate SS with /etc/init.d/slimserver
stop: the script could not locate MusicMagicServer to stop it, and the
SS process could not be killed (it seemed to get put into safe mode?).
I couldn't debug this myself, as I don't understand a number of the
commands in the script - and particularly what this line does:
STATUS=`ps -e | grep $PROGRAM | grep -v grep | wc -l | awk '{print
$1}'`
(I guess this is identifying whether MMS is currently running?)
MMS is located in /home/'username'/MusicIP/MusicMagicMixer - the
location created automatically by the tar extraction.
I'm using SlimServer Version: 6.5.2 - 9471 - Debian - EN - utf8 with
Ubuntu 7.04. My copy of MusicMagicServer is part of the latest MIP
download - ver 1.7, I think.
Thanks again for your assistance
