This sounds like somewhat is bitrate limiting your output. iPeng can
play 96/24, but to do that it needs the stream to also arrive in this
format.

My first guess would be what d6jg already suggested: did you maybe sync
the iPeng player with your Squeezebox? The SB3 can only play 48/24 so
the stream would by transcoded to that format by the server. To play in
sync, the stream on both devices needs to be the same.

Anothe possible reason could be that you have enabled transcoding for
iPeng (bitrate limiting). This is off by default for WiFi connections
but on for cellular connections. Please check through the "i" behind
"Enable Playback" in "Settings->iPeng Settings". There's a menu item
"Bitrate Limiting".

Version 7.7.6 should not have an impact, I believe.
