A few more details would help: Do you have an internet security program / firewall? What version of Slimserver are you using? What OS are you using (Mac/Linux/Windows XP/Vista)?
Making an educated guess, try adding exceptions to your firewall for both slim.exe and socketwrapper.exe. I suspect the second of these is what's causing your problem.
