Hi, I use exactly this setup daily (IPeng + dongle dac). It's very good and you should try this. Few additional comments: - IPeng playback doesn't recompress anything (it's more of less bitperfect up to 96khz) and the player is quite good compared to other "audiophile" iOS music app - I found old iOS devices (my old iPhone 7) to struggle a bit with battery consumption. No problem on more recent devices (iPhone 12 and iPad) - IPeng EQ is very good if you're into that (Let's say you found a dedicated EQ calibrated for the specific headphone you're targeting) - If you have good internet and a VPN connection between your phone and your server (like WireGuard) it works quite well to stream your music on the go. I do this almost every day. - There's literally tons of "dongle dac" nowadays, some cheaper and some more expensive than Dragonfly. Some require specific USB camera adapter, some don't. If you're not sure yet and your headphone is easy enough to drive you should start without this. The headphone itself will define 90% of the sounds, a dac will later help you to reach the last 10% remaining.
