I am definitely out of my element where this discussion has led, however
two thing have me curious-

I have only "created a network location" (per Greg's how tos) on win10
to Samba and two errors can occur "you don't have permission" which is a
un and pw issue, and "could not find" which has always been a syntax
problem in the server/share entry in pcp Samba section. I do know it's
case sensitive, but \\MUSIC\music, could this (same "name") possibly be
a weird trip point? ASCII/Unicode says no, but....I have gotten so
frustrated I named them \\XXX\YYY just to see if I could get it to work,
then changed it after

The discussion is around "mapping a drive" which is different from
creating a network location, basically assigning a drive letter
(right?). I did not know you could do for a network location (but would
be beneficial for me). Do you have to have the network location
established first?

something strange is definitely at play here, but @sheepie says he tried
a thumb drive and windows "could not find the mounted share". That has
always been syntax in my experience

Again, there is allot better advice than I can give here, I'll step back
into the shadows...

Jim
