It works! I've set 'When AirPlay disconnects' to "Wait+Stop" and it has skipped along merrily without any problems on any tracks I've tried so far. Obviously there's a more noticeable pause between tracks when skipped but that's not an issue when normal playback flows uninterrupted. Thank you so much!
