While Slimserver and AlienBBC seems to have installed on a Linkstation now reflashed and running Debian 3.1, try as I might I can't get Mplayer to work (which is why I think the BBC streams are silent).
I built Mplayer from downloaded source (1.0pre8). It is one source file (bz2). Did not download any separate codec file. All seemed to work on the compile using just ./configure with no options. Loads of warnings during the Make and Make Install seemed to work. Only thing was that typing mplayer said "Command not found" but whereis showed it but not in usr/bin. So I copied mplayer from usr/local/bin to usr/bin and it then worked. But if I try to play a rtsp stream on the Linkstation from command prompt it starts and then exits almost straight away. (End of file) On the Slimserver AlienBBC finds the stream and then immediately stops. Log from Slimserver also attached. I really don't know what to do now. Should I have moved anything else from the installation directory where the sources were compiled? That directory is not in my $PATH and not in the Slimserver directory. Do I use a different means to get Mplayer (i.e. as a package as I've used APT-GET for most other things). Do I rebuild mplayer again but differently? Note everything else works on the Slimserver and can play other Internet Radio streams. The file types for RTSP show two of the three options ticked - not MP3 as I guess I don't have the LAME decoder. Suggestions really appreciated. I've spent all day on this and don't know where to go with this now.
