I had some fun getting AlienBBC to work on a G4 as well, though under
10.4 rather than 10.3. I ended up getting the OS X mplayer from the
hplayerhq site (the link is on the alienbbc site), installing it to
/Applications and creating a symlink from an item called mplayer
/usr/local/bin directory to the relevant mplayer binary that is inside
the mplayer bundle.

To find this file, control-click or right click on the mplayer
application icon, and select Show Package Contents. Then you can delve
down through the directories that are inside the mplayer bundle, and
eventually you'll reach the binary that is right for you.
