I just looked at the instructions and they are a bit ambiguous and
possibly not quite right.

The following is the proper location of custom conf files for Linux and
I believe should work even for OSX but hopefully Danco can confirm

1. For 6.5 : custom-convert.conf and custom.types should be in their
own Plugin (in this case Alien) folder
2. For 6.2/6.3 : slimserver-convert.conf and custom-types.conf should
be in the server folder. If another plugin has already installed these
files then the contents will have to be merged.

For 6.5. custom-convert.conf and custom.types can be placed the server
folder (and they should work) but it is possible they could be
overwritten by another plugin - that is why the custom conf files
should now reside in the respective Plugin folder.

Back to the problem in hand.

The files seems to be OK - so now try to debug slimserver startup to
see if shows why the plugin is not being initialised properly.

Do you know how to start slimsever from a Terminal window ? If so then
start slimserver with the options --d_startup --d_server --d_source and
--d_plugins and post the output.
